Position Summary
Delta Family Resource Centre is seeking a qualified Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to join our Child and Family team in a permanent part-time position (21 hours per week).
The successful candidate will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of EarlyON Child and Family Centre programming and other Child & Family initiatives across multiple Delta Family locations, including the Nguzo Saba Black EarlyON Child and Family Centre. The RECE will create safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environments for children from birth to six years of age while supporting caregivers through play-based learning, family engagement, and community connections.
This position is scheduled for 21 hours per week. The successful candidate must be available to work every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. as part of their regular work schedule. Regular travel between Delta Family program locations is required.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the delivery of high-quality EarlyON Child and Family Centre programming and other Child & Family initiatives.
• Deliver culturally responsive programming that reflects the identities, strengths, and lived experiences of participating families, including programming delivered through the Nguzo Saba Black EarlyON Child and Family Centre
• Travel between multiple Delta Family program locations to support program delivery based on operational needs.
• Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and play-based learning experiences for children and caregivers.
• Provide active supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of all children participating in programs.
• Create welcoming and culturally responsive environments that reflect the diverse identities and experiences of participating families.
• Facilitate parent-child interactions, group activities, and learning opportunities that promote healthy child development, early literacy, numeracy, social-emotional development, and school readiness.
• Build positive and respectful relationships with children, caregivers, colleagues, and community partners.
• Support families by providing information, referrals, and connections to community resources and services.
• Support outreach and engagement efforts that encourage participation in EarlyON and Child & Family programs.
• Assist with special events, workshops, community engagement activities, and family-focused initiatives.
• Assist with room set-up, clean-up, toy sanitation, inventory management, and maintaining safe program environments.
• Maintain accurate attendance records, program statistics, and documentation in accordance with organizational
and funder requirements.
• Participate in program planning, evaluation activities, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
• Submit required reports, statistics, timesheets, and invoices in a timely manner.
• Follow all organizational policies, procedures, health and safety requirements, and EarlyON guidelines.
• Other duties related to program delivery as required.
Qualifications Required
• Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
• Minimum one (2) year experience working with children and families in early learning, childcare, community, or family support settings.
• Strong knowledge of child development and play-based learning principles.
• Knowledge of the EarlyON Child and Family Centre Guidelines and the How Does Learning Happen? framework.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-oppression, and culturally responsive practice.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• Ability to travel independently between multiple Delta Family program locations as required.
Assets
• Experience facilitating EarlyON Child and Family Centre programs.
• Demonstrated understanding of the strengths, cultures, histories, and lived experiences of Black communities
• Experience working within Black-led, Black-serving, and Black-mandated (B3+) organizations and/or delivering
culturally responsive programming for Black children and families.
• Experience working with Black communities, newcomer families, and culturally diverse populations.
• Knowledge of community resources and family support services.
• Ability to communicate in languages other than English.
• Experience supporting children with diverse developmental, behavioural, and learning needs.
• Experience facilitating virtual and in-person programming.
Hours of Work
This is part-time position based on 21 hours per week.
The successful candidate must be available to work every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. as part of their regular work schedule.
Programming is delivered across multiple Delta Family locations, including the Nguzo Saba Black EarlyON Child and Family Centre. Regular travel between sites is required.
Remaining weekly hours will be scheduled based on program and operational needs and may include daytime and evening programming..
Compensation: $ 25.20 per hour
